When I was younger, I rather disliked being named Kaihly, but now I think it's most of who I am. My mother put a great deal of effort into choosing my name and for those of you who don't know the story it goes like this:
My mother, being the creative, overachiever that she is, decided that her first child would have the most unique name she could muster up. She decided on Kaylee, but hated the idea of anyone calling me Kay or K... or whatever. She came up with the spelling for Kaihly and referred to me as Kaihl(Kale) for short.
Naturally it causes problems on occasion... a teacher I had in 7th grade called me Kahaylee the entire year and my own aunt still calls me Kale-ly. And of course my family now has decided that Kahaha is their favorite thing to call me by, and my room mates and friends use Kairi-san... but I've grown rather fond of having a name that no one else seems to have.
To this day, I still have never met another Kaihly with the exact spelling of mine. (though I once saw "Congrats Kaily" written on a car)
As a random side note, I should probably add that I've gotten over my hatred of my middle name as well and currently consider using just Kaihly Rae as my "artist" pen name. It's a little catchier than my full name.
